Arcade Racers That Don't Need a Connection

Racing games have quietly drifted online over the years, chasing multiplayer leaderboards. That's fine at home, but useless on the underground.

Thankfully arcade racers still work offline more often than realistic sims do. Neon Drift Runner is a good example, giving you the full career and every track without ever asking for a login.

The controls make or break these games on a phone. One-touch or tilt schemes tend to work best because you don't have your whole hand free while standing on a train.

Watch the file size and the ads. Some free racers pile on interruptions between races, which ruins the flow. A one-time paid racer is often the better deal for a smoother offline experience.

If you want a quick adrenaline hit between stations, a solid offline racer is hard to beat.
