Big Bass Bonanza
We spent a rainy weekend with Big Bass Bonanza and it grew on us fast. At its heart it's a relaxed fishing simulator: you pick a spot, cast your line, and wait for the water to ripple. The whole thing runs happily offline, which was the first box we needed ticked.
The tap-and-hold reeling mechanic is where the game clicks. You feel the tension in the line and have to ease off when the fish pulls hard, then reel in during the calm moments. It sounds simple, but landing a big catch after a two-minute struggle genuinely feels earned. The sound design helps too, with gentle water and the occasional splash.
It's not a deep progression game, and that's the point. You collect different fish, upgrade your gear a little, and move between calm fishing locations. Perfect for winding down before sleep or killing time on a slow bus ride.
